Public Policy:

What is the BIOPAC and why does Life Science Washington have one? BIOPAC is Life Science Washington’s non-partisan political action committee. It takes money to win an election; there’s no way around that. Through our BIOPAC we support state legislative candidates and some statewide races, such as governor candidates, who will promote policies that help to grow and strengthen the life sciences sector.

What process does Life Science Washington use to develop the annual state and federal policy priorities? Life Science Washington is volunteer driven in every area. Life Science Washington’s volunteer Government Affairs Council meets regularly and provides input on policy priorities at the state and federal level.  Life Science Washington also work with national life science organizations to help establish our federal policy priorities.  Life Science Washington’s Executive Committee reviews and provides input and make recommendation to the Board. Life Science Washington’s Board makes the final decision on approving the recommended policy priorities at the December Board meeting.

I’m planning a trip to DC, would Life Science Washington make introductions for me? Yes we will!  We can help identify the key members of the Washington State delegation that you should meet and facilitate the introductions.
